Pharmacological Action:
The wound-healing effect of echinacea is explained by inhibition of the enzyme hyaluronidase produced by many wound-invading bacteria. Echinacea can directly stimulate fibroblasts, to produce hyaluronic acid and other compounds needed for tissue repair. Echinacea is thought to support the immune system by activating white blood cells.
